What we're looking for
CarbonFarm is building a more sustainable and profitable future for farmers by making climate-smart agriculture economically attractive. We focus on rice, one of the world’s largest sources of agricultural methane emissions and freshwater use.
Using AI and satellite imagery, CarbonFarm monitors farming practices and quantifies emissions remotely, bringing transparency and scientific rigour to rice methane mitigation. By combining carbon finance with satellite-based monitoring, we incentivize farmers to adopt more sustainable practices and enable companies and investors to measure impact reliably at scale.
CarbonFarm is looking for a Carbon Project Officer to support the implementation of CarbonFarm's carbon projects in Cambodia. The role will sit at the intersection of agriculture, field operations and technology, helping ensure that high-quality project data is collected efficiently and accurately across our project areas.
Responsibilities
- Develop strong working knowledge of CarbonFarm's proprietary digital monitoring, reporting & verification (dMRV) tools and systems, including our mobile data collection applications and related project monitoring solutions.
- Own the rollout and day-to-day running of CarbonFarm's mobile app across the project's field agent teams, farmers & project partners.
- Train and re-train field agents and agronomists on the app each season, and produce simple Khmer-language guides and refreshers.
- Coordinate field data collection activities and ensure that required agricultural and project information is collected accurately, consistently and on schedule.
- Support the setup and, where required, field installation and maintenance of monitoring equipment such as IoT sensors.
- Coordinate field activities and ground data collection required to support remote sensing and other digital monitoring approaches.
- Work closely with project partners, farmer organisations and farmers to ensure that monitoring requirements are clearly understood and practically implemented.
- Act as a key link between CarbonFarm's technical team and stakeholders in Cambodia, helping translate technical requirements into workable field processes.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both in the field with farmers and partners and with digital tools and data.
- 3–5 years of relevant professional experience in agriculture, agronomy, agricultural extension, agritech, climate or carbon projects, sustainability, field operations, rural development, GIS/remote sensing, or a related area.
- A bachelor's degree in agriculture, agronomy, environmental science, natural resource management, engineering, geography, information systems, or another relevant discipline.
